Hello to all, from New Jersey

Post by Seraphim » Mon Jun 05, 2017 12:55 am

Greetings! I am a complete beginner (I am starting to learn on a steel string, just to get my fingers moving and to find out if musical learning is something to invest in), and can barely even hold a guitar, but am interested in the classical guitar for many reasons, aside from the music due to how particular the technique is. I come from being self taught in jazz/rock experimental drumming, exclusively improvisational, and from a variety of non-musical body movement improvement systems (if that is how they can be described) like the alexander technique, gokhale method, etc., all at a "lay" level. This forum came up constantly when I googled questions about CG education, and I was shocked with how thorough it is for a forum. I got into guitar in general through the fingerstyle playing of John Fahey and Robbie Basho.

It is customary to give your exit number when saying hello in NJ. I'm from exit 140, for example. Welcome to the site and if you are local, we could meet in person.

As of now, I am trying to divulge as little personal information as possible, but I am happy to know that there are other (hopefully a lot) of members in our fine state!
