Hello from the Philippines!

Post by George Mendoza » Mon Oct 02, 2017 2:19 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm George Mendoza from Baguio, Philippines. I'm an amateur guitarist, been playing guitar since high school, on and off for around 20 years now. I would consider myself beginner/intermediate-level.

I haven't had formal education in music. In recent years I have pretty much tried every guitar course in the net :) The last guitar book I have (nearly) completed was Beginning Fingerstyle Blues Guitar by Arnie Berle and Mark Galbo.

I have sticked with nylon guitars for most of guitar playing. Lately, I tried out electric. However, I realize now that electric guitar is best experienced with a band; in isolation, it's hard to be motivated with electric guitar when you're not playing off someone else.

The online courses I have taken were primarily fingerstyle and blues lessons. I would like to try classical because 1) I want to focus on improving my technique, 2) I want to build a repertoire that can be appreciated by almost anyone, and 3) I want to maximize the most of playing guitar as a solo player.

Would love to hear from you!

Regards,
George

Welcome to Delcamp!

If you haven't already, please take a moment to read this page for a good rundown on how the forum works, rules, history, etc. You have found a great source of classical guitar knowledge, as we have a wide assortment of members, from beginners to performing artists, with a number of fine teachers, historians, and luthiers too. So feel free to ask any questions you might have, but consider using the search function first, as many topics have already been discussed at length.

If you participate in other online forums, you might notice that things can get pretty heated at times. Delcamp takes great strides to avoid that. Here is what Mssr. Delcamp himself has to offer on that.

It is important to note that there is a requirement to post an average of once a month. Members not meeting this standard may have their memberships terminated.

Adding your location to your profile is a nice touch. Many of us have made new friends from doing just that.

Again, welcome to the forum!

Regards,
