US $..585 Taurus/Condal spruce 1967, Lake Geneva, WI

Postby Tim Johnson » Sat Feb 11, 2017 11:47 pm

Classical Condal/Taurus
1967
650mm
Solid Spruce top
Solid Indian Rosewood back and sides
Ebony fingerboard, Rswd bridge
Sweet vintage tone
Good condition
$..585
Viewing available
Southern WI

Expanded Condition
French polish
Repaired back crack
Small strap button hole was filled on the bottom of guitar
Top and sides are crack free
Action 4mm, 3mm
Original frets in fine shape
Old period case

This Barcelona Taurus was built for the Condal shop in 1967. Taurus also built estudio model guitars for the Ramirez shop diring this time. This particular guitar has design elements of Fleta and Torres. The seven strut fan is lightly done and it's a fine playing guitar. The sound is balanced with a sweet vintage tone. I've owned the guitar for several years. The original lacquer finish had checked badly so I took the opportunity to remove it and apply French polish. It now has a nice vintage patina. The back crack was repaired prior to my ownership and has several cleats along the length of the back. There's room to lower the saddle a bit if desired but she plays well as is. The period case is missing two latches, but will protect it well for shipping. Overall it's a unique, affordable, vintage instrument that's fun to play and sounds like Spain in 1967! I would prefer to only sell in the USA. All offers or possible trade ideas are welcome. Shipping will be $85.00 in the 48. Best regards, Tim

The Condal is still available. The price has been reduced. I would say that the volume is moderate. Projection seems good but I have only played it in my home. Tim

Is this still available?
I am in Chicago often enough to see it.
Coffee Roasting is like classical guitar, part technique, part art.
Without both the end result works, but never reaches what it could be.

Nice old Fusteros on it too. As you say, the sound of Spain in 1967, the summer of love.
Best of luck with the sale.
Getting better bit by bit, day by day.

The Taurus is still available. It has a 52mm nut and a very comfortable neck. Very much like two Hauser style guitars that I have owned. Thanks for the interest. I'm open to offers at this point.
Best,
Tim

Curtis

Hi Curtis,

The nut is 52mm. The neck has a very nice carve and is quite comfortable. Its very much like a Hauser and not at all like a 60s Ramirez. This is a model 56 Taurus.
Thanks!
