Corrections to Turina " -Soleares" -

Post by David Norton » Sat Jul 12, 2014 12:50 pm

I was able to get a copy of Turina's own manuscript for the Homenaje a Tárrega, which is on file with the Sociedad de Autores Españoles in Madrid. Some important differences in what Turina wrote, versus what Schott published. In one case, a full measure has been deleted from the published score.

NOTE: The extreme right margin of the copy I received is cut off, so those very last notes on each line are lost. It does not make much difference here.

Just ran across this. Nice find!

Schott recently published a "Turina urtext" edition, based on the original manuscripts. Available online at the usual sources.

I own the Urtext and it stinks royally in my opinion - I much prefer Segovia's fingerings and edits.
