Franz Schubert/Mertz - information about composition titles?

Postby canada » Sat May 24, 2014 3:44 pm

Hope this is the correct area to post my question..

I'm finishing up a classical guitar CD and in the middle of describing the pieces for the inner booklet..

Is it correct to say that 'Lob der Tränen' (F. Schubert, arr. by J.K. Mertz, D.711) and 'Ständchen' (F. Schubert, arr. By J.K. Mertz, D.957, no.4) are two songs from a larger posthumous collection of works by Franz Schubert entitled 'Schubert's che Lieder' or 'Schwanengesang' – Swan Song)? And if so, which one are they from (or are they best described as stand-alone pieces)?

Are the number's correct for each piece and collection (D.711, D.957 no.4, or ???)?

I have the sheet music but when I search online, there seems to be a few titles for each and different collections named. I'm not finding the clear answers I'm looking for unfortunately.

And finally, does anyone know when Mertz composed 'Elegie'?

Thank you for your help!
