Last year at The Classical Guitar Retreat in July I gave the world première of this new solo piece for guitar by Peter Stewart.
It was a lovely gift from the composer and my friend Peter Stewart and it was a fitting way to begin the 2011 CGR.
Later that year I visited my friends at the Gitaarsalon in Enkhuizen - Holland and we made a video of the piece.
Here is the story of the piece:
A woman dances on a beach in the early morning light - her arms extended as if to hold her partner.
Watched from a distance she spins and spins.
She Dances but once a year - it is the day her soldier did not return.
If you happened upon the beach you may find - two sets of footprints.......
Absolutely gorgeous, Matthew! What a lovely piece and how sensitively played.
