Lopes, Edson - Canção Triste

Post by tateharmann » Thu Jun 28, 2012 10:33 pm

The Brazilian Guitarist/Composer Edson Lopes has some works covered under the Creative Commons license on the IMSLP:

http://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Lopes,_Edson

A lot of interesting stuff in there. This is one I've been playing in my warm up routine to get the left hand going. I captured it during a recording/practice session. Here is a link to the Creative Commons license that it is covered by:

http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/

Thanks for listening,

Tate

Lovely rich full sound, Tate.

Isn't the title very appropriate!

@tateharmann: thank you dearly for your recording and for popularization of this piece. I am including it into my "warm up" daily routine, it seems to be great for people who return to guitar after too long break.

:bravo:
Lovely piece, Tate, and played beautifully. Do you know if this composer has written very many other pieces? If so, they would be worth checking out.
Thanks for recording this for us.
:merci:

Hi Kay, besides the ones on the IMSLP that Jacek mentioned, I don't know. I do really appreciate Mr. Lopes as a player though, he has some fine youtube videos worthy of viewing out there. He has one of the best interpretations of Torroba's Burgalesa in my opinion.

Thanks for listening

Pardon my ignorance, I have no idea at all when it comes to legal matters, but does that licence cover uploading videos to YouTube or is it merely for sound recording? It doesn't say it does but it doesn't say it doesn't either. It's a really nice piece of music and I'd like to give it a try but I can't do sound-only recording, I can only record video. Would that licence cover me being able to do so?

Hi NylonStrung,
I don't see why you couldn't. Just to be sure, though, you could ping a moderator and see what he/she says. That's what I did before posting here so I wouldn't have to suffer the embarrassment of getting it deleted later haha.

Cheers tateharmann, I'm hoping that the same licence applies for both but I will try to find out beforehand...as you say, better than getting it deleted. Really nice but simple piece of music. Thanks for drawing attention to it.

Thank you for making us aware of this beautiful and simple piece, Tate! :merci:

@NylonStrung: Rest assured that the moderators did quite a bit of research about Creative Commons and it seems that the only condition is that the composer is mentioned in any form of recording.

Um...I think it's implied that no one can reproduce the score under their own name.

Looking forward to your video,

Alan

Thanks for your clarification on that question, Alan. Hopefully at some point in the not too distant future I will be able to post a video of this piece :)

Steve.
