Hi Tate,

Never heard of this composer before, but the song is lovely.
And you did a very good job in playing/recording and making this composer known to the Delcamp world.

Nicely played tman. Lopes is a favorite composer. Try his Scherzo, or his Sombrio.
He has transcribed many many pieces by others as well.
I've tried to communicated directly with him to express thanks, but have not been successful.

Really? I had an email address for him once, but I think I lost it :( I should try to dig it up again.

Is that how you tried to contact him?

Lovely piece and lovely played, Tate. I have downloaded the score and started to study it myself. I noticed that Edson Lopes uses different fingering as indicated in the score on his YouTube video. Right now, I am exploring all possible fingerings and dynamics and hope to make a recording shortly. Thank you for bringing this lovely piece of music to my attention. It's a simple piece, but of great quality: well worth exploring every possible tonal qualities and dynamics. :bravo: :merci: :bye:

Mr. Lopes keeps the melody on the same string in some places. Didn't Segovia or somebody say that each string was a voice and to keep the melody on the same string when possible? Maybe I made that up...I don't know haha.

Anyway, thanks for your comments! :)

thought I would bump this thread up. Cancao Triste in the original post, fairly simple to understand for a beginner. But nice hidden technique within it, and beautiful to play. This is a definite oractice piece and repitoire piece. Thx Tate.

...will be searching out more of Senior Lopez's works.

I tried listening to the recording, but for whatever reason, the filed I downloaded seemed to be corrupted. This made the playback "jumpy" (like listening to a cd with plenty of scratches). Did anyone else have this issue?

Yes, everyone has this issue with certain files. There was a system-wide corruption that took place over a migration a while back and many files were affected. I've been re-uploading mine little by little but forget which ones I've already done. I have replaced the file again.

Ah, thank you. I love the beauty and simplicity of this song.

Lovely playing and a great recording. You have give me something to aspire to - have been practising this piece for quite some time. The old fingers have trouble with the notes in bar 12, in particular sustaining the "a"!
Regards,
Robert.
