Mompou! Love suite Compostelana!

I second Villa-Lobos Prelude No 1 and the Prelude No 4; Carcassi Op60 No 6 alternates bass and treble. Some of Brower Simple Etudes also have a melody of sorts in the bass. Albeniz' Granada has melody in the bass too (lovely song).

Yes - method and "coleccions" all in the Royal Academy library ... I'm not sure it's worth it to me to stump up probably £200+ for the lot which is why I want to have a look first (or glean someone's knowledge). I guess that your info is correct though.

Some more for the list:
Legnani - Caprices 1 & 9
Giuliani - Allegro Op.50, 13 (Le Papillon), Maestoso Op.51, 1
Barrios - Romance in Imitation of the Violoncello

A nice, straight-forward piece with the melody in the bass strings is Sagreras "Calliope" or Lesson 61 from Primeras Lecciones (Book 1), which is also available on the Delcamp website.

Virtually every arpeggio piece will benefit from a rest stroke in the bass. Giuliani's Capriccio is a piece that blossoms with a powerful bass line. See "An hour with the guitar" - Schott GA21

I amend all first five simple etudes of Leo Brouwer to me appear as being strong and chanting from the baselines
