I've just read this sentence: - "The Captivi was praised by Lessing as one of the finest plays ever put on the stage."

Solved: it's Gotthold Ephraim, 1729-81.

No, that's what I (not seriously) wondered, although I gather from skim-reading that she married a diplomat who was descended from the famous German dynasty?
