A home-made mince pie.
And yes, I know it's far too early, but they are so nice!

My son's a commercial fisherman and he brought back scads of halibut for our freezer just this week. I've been chowing down and I'm still not bored of it. BTW - I used to drink coffee all day with plenty of sugar, and I was 60 lbs. overweight. I switched to jasmine tea and other herbal teas without any sugar and over the course of a year I dropped about 25-30 lbs. It really is the extra sugar in our diet that gets us so bad off. I've gone down a shoe size, my feet don't hurt anymore and I have more energy.

What's your recipe or was it store-bought?

The pie was bought, but the mash was home-made.
Sweat a large onion in much butter, wash and peel potato, simmer potato skins in milk. Mash potato. Mix together milk (minus skins), potatoes, butter and onions. Season to taste. You could add nutmeg, but I didn't.

Re: pie, if you want to make yourself - I cut them up, then soak in milk for at least 24 hours. Milder flavour.

Whoops! Re: cutting up, I was referring to kidney, not potatoes. Sorry.

I love kidneys - why would I want milder flavour?

There was a time when Heinz made kidney soup, but that was until about 30 years ago!

Currently I am eating candied papaya.

Chinese Potstickers!
And I made them myself!
I used the Ken Hom recipe from the BBC website, which includes making the wrappers from scratch. The whole family loved them.

My wife and I just split an appetizer of half a dozen oysters on the half shell, and a three way seafood platter with shrimp, fried oysters, and scallops. :)

I have just finished breakfast. I made French toast, which, for me, is a rarity. I'm type 2 diabetic, so I don't eat many high carb, or high sugar, foods. I can't remember the last time I had French toast? We had a partial loaf of bread....just two slices and two 'heels'.... that was getting fairly old, and I decided to use it. I keep sugar free syrup in the pantry.
.....that was GOOD!
