If You Were to Choose Another Instrument to Dedicate Yourself to What Would it be?

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

Chromatic Harmonica. I have 4 of these and one of them covers 4 octaves. I played it for awhile (several years) after my hand surgery.

I love the sound of a cello, but can't face the effort or the time needed to master it. Maybe a piano if/when my wife starts playing again and we buy one.

I would play bass guitar much more seriously than I do now. I can sight read it better than treble clef as I used to practice every day. I still play a little though. I finally got to get a bass again after having had to sell my previous one. I am a hack bassist though now because I went to flatwounds and I play with a pick. I can't shred my guitar nails on those big 'ole strings, not to mention ripping up my fretting fingers.

Piano's my first love, guitar the sideline. Piano does provide for a more expansive musical horizon. I love the guitar, love its sound and the much greater feeling of intimacy with the instrument and the music you're playing. It is not an easy instrument to play and learning to play it well is a never-ending challenge. However the repertoire isn't very extensive.

The uke is my first love, as it gets me socialising. CG is OK for solitary meditation.
If I wanted another instrument it would be a social one, prolly the violin if I could find an amateur orchestra that would take me. Unless I won enough money to buy a house and a piano. I may have said that in an earlier post. I can't be bothered to go back and look.
Hmm, I've had a look, it's only page 1. I waffle too much about the oboe, but I'm surprised my first answer was the violin.

That's cool about the uke. Violin's good too. And oboe. And piano.

Cello, hands down! But my wife won't allow a big instrument to take up permanent space in our home. :( Maybe if I beg and plead. Also, it's always easier to get forgiveness than permission. :D

After that, lot's of maybes: ukulele, ocarina, or any instrument that I can do with severe arthritis in my left hand, or any instrument I can carry while hiking, or any instrument I can use in the many street fights I participate in. Well okay, I fibbing about that last criteria... :D

Oh, I've contemplated the double bass, but the logistics of transporting it are just not worth the trouble.

I would choose to play the piano! I've always enjoyed to listen to classical piano music, but I haven't learned to play piano. :bye:
