To add another one to my list, and again on television, the 1983 America's Cup, race 7. I had met John Bertrand, the Australia skipper, years before this race and then again in 2009 when I was privileged to fly him and his wife on a scenic trip over Lake Eyre and he remembered me. I got to ask him about those last 2 legs where Australia 2 came from behind on the downwind leg and then hold off Liberty to windward to win the series and end the longest unbeaten run in sports history. I cannot begin to describe what Australia was like on that day, it was like nothing I had experienced before or since.
