No idea, but Wiki lists nothing but Gretsch and Gibson, Gretsch more than Gibson.

I believe it's a Kirk Sand, electric classical guitar. I'm not sure whether Kirk is still around. He is/was from California and was at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society meeting that I attended in the early 90's.

It looks a lot like a Sand. I've seen pics of a couple of his Sands but without the sound hole.

Just a side note. I'd read that Chet was asked to write down the names of the top 10 guitarists. He was then asked why Segovia was not on the list. "...because he doesn't swing."

Interesting. I didn't know that Kirk Sand was the originator of that guitar design. I've played the Gibson Chet Atkins model many times (a student brought one to his lessons) and seen Atkins play it live. The guitar in the OP vid looks different as far as the upper bout and peghead but otherwise I would have guessed he was playing a custom Gibson.

Didn't Sand make a prototype for Gibson?

Sounds like it... It was described in the article from sandguitars.com that Rick linked to a few posts back.

That's funny. When they asked George Harrison he said Segovia "was the grand daddy of us all." Segovia quipped when told of this: "Then they must be my illegitimate children."

I got his list from a web site and don't know if it;s authentic:

Chet was asked to name the 10 most influential guitarists of this century. Here is his list, which he amended Jan 8th, 2000 to include an eleventh guitarist:

Django Reinhardt (Chet said he would be number one on the list)

others in no particular order:
Charlie Christian
Eddie Lang
Merle Travis
Chet Atkins
Augustin Barrios
Les Paul
Wes Montgomery
Lenny Breau
Johnny Smith
Jimi Hendrix

There are many that I would have mentioned and a couple I'd cut, but we all have opinions.

Thanks for all the answers folks. I'll follow up the links.

I'd like to try one of these if anyone has an old unwanted one for sale. Not much chance but you never know.

I think the nut with on the Chet Atkin's Gibson is less than 2 inches around 45mm. A little narrow for me.

The guitar looks very much like a version of the Chet Atkins Gibson CE. The bridge shape and the headstock shape are similar to the Gibson but those on the Sand are shaped somewhat differently. However, the 4 slider bars on the upper bout don't appear in any photos of the Gibson CE that I've seen online, but are on some of the Sand guitars. I played around in Photoshop with some screen grabs from the video of the closeups of the sound hole and headstock. While the video and resulting still images were blurry and hard to read, the sound hole has printing which looks very much like the words "Chet Atkins" and the headstock looks like the logo there says "Gibson". As I said though, the images were hard to read completely accurately.
