What was the first single you bought?

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

"Waitin in Your Welfare Line" by Merle Haggard. Horrible song. I was about 11 years old. Wanted "Michelle" by the Beatles, but my Dad said Merle Haggard was better.

Easy question - zip, nada, zero, none. I have never bought a single in my life.
You missed out on some fun times.

No, but will find out some more on your suggestion.
I can't say I was a really big fan, I was only about 6 at the time, but still a fairly decent double-A side, I think.

It's a documentary about 2 mountain climbers that ran into some serious bad luck on their climb. As one of them lay dying on the mountain side, he could not get brown girl in the Ring... out of his head. Both men lived .

From memory it was 'Walk Don't Run'. I think it was on the B side of a track by Adge Cutler and the Wurzels, although I find it hard to understand why. This could be false memory syndrome.

The first album that I can remember was Ray Charles "Dedicated To You" 1961. I can't recall the first single. Money was very tight. I think I got the album from one of those record clubs (get 6 for a penny?).

I hadn't heard that cover. I remember The Ventures doing it it and I recently saw a video of Chet Atkins playing it on nylon.
A couple of weeks ago my wife asked me play it. Funny how things you hadn't thought of in decades start poppin up.

I can't understand how these two tracks ended up on one single but that's my memory. Chet does the best version no doubt, as always.
