Anyone out there playing on the porch today?

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

Anyone out there playing on the porch today?

Post by CathyCate » Sat Aug 26, 2017 9:01 pm

Big Sister just now told me that today is international Play Music on the Porch Day.
Anyone out there know about it? Anyone observing it? If so, please let us know how it goes.
If you miss it, mark the fourth Saturday in August on next year's calendar. Apparently it is an annual event.

As for me, perhaps I will play late tonite on the back porch.
I've had enough encounters with the Condo Association this summer.

I will, now that I know!
Put down the bagpipes ...
... and no one gets hurt.

Just a little too toasty out there for me I think. I would sweat all over my guitar. But maybe after it cools off in the evening!

Passed out on the couch and missed my opportunity. It's after midnight now.

I missed this opportunity! I would not have done it anyway as we are having record breaking heat in the SF Bay Area, plus I don't really have a proper porch. :D

I can and will play out on our patio under the shade of the old apple tree (literally). My wife has set up bird feeders for several types of birds. When I play out there, the birds gather round and start singing. I know that sounds like wishful thinking, so I invite you folks to try it. It is a cool phenomenon. Try it !

I play on the porch most Saturdays. Who's idea was "International Play Music on the Porch Day"?

I will have a balcony next summer. I will celebrate then.

To tell the truth I never thought to play on the back porch.

It's too hot right now but when it cools down I'll look forward towards playing on the back porch.

I enjoy sitting on the porch and playing. We have a front porch overlooking several hundred acres of farmland, and a screened-in back porch with a view of the woods behind our house. Normally both porches are screened in, but we've removed the screen on the front porch to paint the woodwork. This time of year, those abundant and pesky mosquitos just about guarantee I'll be on the back porch after supper, enjoying my cup of coffee and playing. There is a small town near me.....Oriental, NC......that is preparing for the 4th annual "Ol Front Porch Music Festival," on October 6 & 7. www.olfrontporchmusicfestival.org There are 27 music groups that are performing for free, on porches around town. For a little town down in the middle of nowhere, it draws quite a crowd!!!

Sounds like a great idea! I'm on my way!
