Guns and Guitars

Post by Rick Beauregard » Wed Oct 04, 2017 3:07 pm

...the name of a store in Las Vegas where our newest mass murdered acquired some of his arsenal. And guitar strings?

I have actually heard of that store. What kind of guitars do they have? I don't think that I would want to buy a CG from a place that had gun solvents, and penetrating oils in the same room with delicate CGs, just because of the fumes. It seems like a combination that just doesn't make any sense. Unless, of course, your name is Ted Nugent. I'm sure they sell electric guitars.

It's in Mesquite, NV, not Las Vegas. I've been there. Mesquite happens to be almost exactly the midpoint between Salt Lake City UT (where I live) and Valencia CA (where my Dad lived until 2 years ago). So we'd meet up in Mesquite twice a year for many years.

As Mesquite is in Nevada, the primary employers in town are four big casinos. Gambling invites people who lose at gambling and find themselves financially inconvenienced. G&G is basically a pawn shop serving this clientele, with a full range of steel string and electric guitars from $79 to $7900. They had one CG there, a Yamaha for $100 or so. I've zero interest in weaponry, but just from looking at the wares offered they go from purse-size pistols to handguns to hunting rifles to anti-tank defense systems. They also have some jewelry, watches, and so forth, but their main stock in trade are the guns and guitars.

I hear congress is considering a ban on cutaway crossovers. GFA membership is on a meteoric rise. And mental health professionals have declared GAS a disease.

Sorry I need something to relieve my horror.

We have a carpet store here in my town with a retail gun shop in the back, all under the same roof and ownership - it's pretty cool!

Incorrect. This is merely a symptom of a messed up culture. For the definition of messed up culture, do a google search for "liquor and guns". Now that's really f***ed up!

Usually the nut is next to the headstock. I think on this one, the nut would be behind the stock??? :?

Mixture shops are always interesting though. When I was in college I worked in a Marine parts store that also had a nautical art gallery attached.
