radiation from Japan cars after 2011

Post by glassynails » Mon Oct 30, 2017 7:31 pm

Hi.

I want to buy a Subaru Forester above 2011, but I'm worried about radiation. What do you all think? I'm paranoid about things like this. Should I buy an older model?

Trouble is, although they are perfectly safe, if you don't quite believe that, you'll always be uncomfortable... so best not to buy one, I think.

Otherwise I suppose you could get a radiation suit, although driving around in it you might attract the attention of law enforcement agencies.

I really wouldn't worry about it. I don't believe that any of the major car manufacturing plants are anywhere near Fukushima, and even if they were I doubt there would be enough radioactive material for anyone to be able to tell the difference from background radiation.

And these days I don't know how much of their stuff is actually built in Japan anymore to begin with. I believe the some of the Japanese car makers actually have assembly plants in the mid-western and southeastern US, for example.

Call your local fire department. They should have a geiger counter In their haz-mat response equipment.

Bring a dozen donuts and take the car down and ask them to check the radiation levels.
