In the Self's Place by Jean Luc Marion. Excellent. Also: Christianity and Classical Culture by Jaroslav Pelican. These two books make great companions.

Still Howard Zinn 'Popular History of the USA' - a brilliantly written book with many hard to digest facts, so I have to go slowly...
Music is a big continent with different landscapes and corners. Some of them I do visit frequently, some from time to time and some I know from hearsay only ...

I'll have to look into that one. Have you read "the Land Where the Blues Began"?

Nope - but it is on my list for future reading. On a similar subject I very much enjoyed Escaping the Delta: Robert Johnson and the Invention of the Blues by Elijah Wald when I read it.

Red Sparrow and now Palace of Treason by Jason Matthews. Great Russia/US spy versus spy stuff, and the author had a 33 year CIA career in clandestine ops, so it all feels very authentic. He has a third in the series coming out next year.

Dark Associations by Marie Sutro, a grisly serial killer novel along the lines of Silence of the Lambs...but more gruesome.
Greg Byers 2016 cedar/Ind
Randy Angella 2009 sp/Br
