What are you currently reading?

Talk about things that are not necessarily related to music or the guitar.

"Damned If You Do," by Robert Parker. My wife and I were in the mountains this weekend, and we went to an independent bookstore in Waynesville,NC....."Blue Ridge Books".....and bought several books. This one was an easy read....I bought it Saturday, and I've already finished it. It's a "Jesse Stone" novel, and throughout the entire book, I visualized Tom Selleck, who played him in the movie series.

"Mortal Fall," by Christine Carbo. It's the second book of hers that I've read. My daughter-in-law knows her....they are both Pilates instructors in Whitefish, MT. This one is fiction also, and is also about an investigation of a death in Glacier National Park. The other one, "The Wild Inside," was pretty good.
The "scene of the crime" in this one is near "the loop".......a 180 degree curve in the "Going to the Sun Road." I was in Glacier over Memorial Day weekend, and we biked to the loop. The road was closed to vehicles, because the snow hadn't yet been plowed near Logan's Pass, but was open to hikers and bikers. It is gorgeous country!

I was probably about 35 when I first read it. Loved it - very pleasant surprise.

I'm currently reading the massive "History of Middle Earth" series that collects most of the manuscript texts of JRR Tolkien, edited and commented by his son Christopher. I'm not going to read through everything, but selecting parts that interest me most instead.

I'm poring over "Making Master Guitars" by Courtnall, but am reading "Your Inner Fish," By Shubin.

It's about the 1946 escape attempt that did not go well for the cons or the guards.

At the moment I´m rereading Kafka which I read as a teenager. And as it seems I`ve forgotten most ofit ;).
I´ve just finished "The Trial", now I´m reading "The Castle".

The Witches: Suspicion, Betrayal, and Hysteria in 1692 Salem, by Stacy Schiff. I decided I needed to know more about the Salem witchcraft trials.

Im trying to read some chaptes from Richard Taruskin's Oxford History of Western Music 19th century and early 20th century, its a very detailed reading, and half of the time I'm not getting the technical details but its very informative. I've also started psychopathology of everyday life by notorious freud, its a fun read.
