Trying to be authentic bass strings...

Post by Kjetil Heggelund » Fri Mar 24, 2017 5:03 pm

Hello there people!
I'm a lucky owner of 2 fantastic guitars, one Torres replica by Kevin Aram and a pretty modern Stephan Schlemper with mic/pick-up. I have decided to "be authentic" with the Aram and have actually bought real gutstrings but don't have the silk basses. Does anyone know a brand that sells bass-sets with silk-core?

The only silk core producer I'm familiar with is Aquila, but I don't know if they sell the basses separately.

Aquila seta have the silk bass strings. Lovely warm sounding strings. I'm fairly certain that the silk wound bass are not sold separately, I enquired. Use the plain gut and save the seta trebles for emergencies.

Aha! Aquila Seta! Are you sure they have the same basses as the gut & silk set? Then I would save ca. 60$ :-)
