HenSe 500 series extra D

Post by Laudiesdad69 » Sun May 14, 2017 5:22 am

I just switched to HenSe strings, the 500 MT. I originally thought it was a fluke when I went to put the d string on, but there was a second D string in the package. Then today, I went to string up a guitar that I had just fixed, and lo and behold, there were 2 D strings in the set. I thought that was rather nice as the D seems to be the first to go out of a set. Anybody else have experience with this?

At just $6.99 from SBM, they are a bargain. And in my opinion, they sound warmer than D'Addario EJ45 and the basses are deep, but clear with a certain punch in the mids. The trebles don't sound bland and colorless like the D'Adds. They are the same price as the Pro Artes are at my favorite local music store.

According to the henSe website, Strings by mail is the only us distributor of these strings.

When did you get them? I've just looked at SBM and the HenSe 500MT's are on "sale" at $9.59 (usually $11.99). Was the $6.99 price some special deal sometime back?

Royal Classics strings also have two Ds in each set.

It must have been, I just looked at SBM and the price has indeed gone up. I will try the other sets listed in this thread that have extra d strings. I am looking to find a string that is sustainably cheap, and having the extra d means I don't have to change the set as fast.
