they're next in line, in about a week. I have the set with the carbon g and the set without. I'm liking the Augustine blacks more and more though.

I use Augustine blu classic. But i don't find the bass strings harder to play than the black, and the sound is similiar but beefier and thicker sounding. This is my preferred choice for a smooth, big and deep sound.

If you write of Augustine black, which trebles do you use? Classic?

Yep, classic. I haven't tried the others, which are a different material apparently. I'd be curious if the sound is comparable, and mostly, if the Imperials (which are med. tension that I like) might last longer. Even the Classic trebles are short lived, ime.
