Tension data coming soon-SBM

Post by Laudiesdad69 » Tue Dec 05, 2017 4:22 pm

I just talked to Matt at SBM today. He says that in 2018 they will have tension data for all of the strings they sell. They are doing the testing themselves as there is no manufacturer tension ratings for many of the strings they sell.

I am looking forward to this, as it will be easier to choose strings. I don't generally try strings without this data.

Thanks for the info. One nice thing about this is that if they do all the testing themselves the numbers will be comparable. That alone will be a major "value-add".

I look forward to geeking-out over this data. I'm also curious to see if the actual tension confirms what my fingers seem to feel, the feedback I get from both hands.

Are they doing ALL of their strings (electric, bass and other instruments) or just classical?

Hey didn't say about the bass strings, but did say they would have this info for electric, acoustic, and classical guitar strings. I will check with Matt about the bass strings next time I talk to him.

Yahoo!!! :bravo:

Thank you for the heads up Laudiesdad69. :merci: I have been hoping for something like this for a long time. I have done some of my own measurements, and they are extremely time consuming. Kudos to SBM again.
