Building plans for 2017/2018

Postby simonm » Wed Feb 01, 2017 11:12 pm

Some shameless self-promotion.

I am hatching my guitar building plans for the next 18-24 months. So far the plan consists of having a number of guitars ready for sale in 2018. I am planning 3-5 guitars in the Cadenza price range and another 4-10 in the "reassuringly expensive" (:-)) price range.

I will be building mainly with walnut and cypress. Spruce tops. The 1912 Ramirez plan and a Romanillos plan will be the starting points. I will be investing in additional tools. Space for a real workshop later in the year is very likely once we move to a new location.

I am currently planning to take part in Tobias Braun's building course for the second time in August. I really enjoyed last years course. Hopefully by the end of this year I will be up to guitar number 30. We'll see.

You asked for it, you got it. :-)

I am considering putting a temporary workshop in here. Not much natural light but it is about 25-30m2 and dry. I will investigate it further in March. For perspective, the entrance is 4m wide by about 2.2m high.

Interesting, I can only see 3 frets. The scale looks kind of long but that could be the photo. Where did you put the bridge? What kind of strings do you plan to use?
