Nina & Frederek Duo in concert

Post by lucy » Wed Oct 04, 2017 8:25 pm

Hi everyone

I've recently formed a duo with guitarist Derek Hasted and we have our first concert coming up on Saturday 4th November. Please see attached poster. Would be lovely to see anyone if they're nearby.

Our name may only appeal to people over a certain age.... I happen to get it because I was named after the pair in question. If I had been a boy, I would have been called Frederik!

Ha! My first thought was, 'Blimey - they must be a bit old now for this kind of thing'. I'm sorry it's a bit too far for me to drive down to Bedhampton, but I wish you well with your concert.

By the way, love the Comma as your avatar - I've seen worryingly few butterflies this year.

Yes, I had just the same thought
I used to listen to them in the early 60's. I never knew what happened to them after that time, but a bit of Googling shows that Frederik was murdered in the Philippines in 1994 and Nina (still alive) has had quite a varied subsequent career!

Let's wish the 'new' Nina and Frederek the best of success and good fortune :)

Yes, I believe that's been happening recently, some years. Hope they pick up permanently.

Thank you so much Eric!! :)

Yeah, I Googled them too. Poor Frederik!! Seems it's still a bit of a mystery...

I also bought a compilation CD of them, a while back. Of course, their sound is a little dated now, but I have to say, they were very good at what they did - I can see the appeal!

Thanks Jack. I appreciate it very much. :)

By the way, have you emailed recently? You mentioned you were going to, later, but I haven't received anything. No rush, I'm just checking whether it's got lost in the ether!

Over a certain age indeed, I wish you a lot of harmony, just like them in the old days.
