Ferrabosco, Alfonso - Fantasia - Vihuela Video

Youtube

At the recent 2017 LSA East, Nigel North brought this Fantasia by Alfonso Ferrabosco to one of his classes. From the Board Lute Book (F. 29v). I had never heard it before but it's incredible polyphony really grabbed me. Couldn't bring out the lines on my 10 course but I think it's clearer on my 6 course vihuela. Could spend a lifetime trying to perfect, but eager to share it. Performed by Daniel Shoskes on a Larson gut strung vihuela.

Now you just have to order a six or seven course renaissance lute (you don't have one already ?)
Count Basie: I don't worry about virtuosity. I do what I like to do. If I'm a virtuoso, that's great. If not, I'm doing what I like to do.

Very nice vihuela and it sounded so good! I love this early music on the vihuela and lutes! Thank you for sharing.
