Albeniz - Granada - Dinnigan

Postby JohnB » Mon Jan 23, 2017 3:40 pm

I came across this performance of Granada by Simon Dinnigan (on a Christopher Dean guitar) and found it mesmerizing. It's beautifully and very sensitively played in a somewhat contemplative style. As I said, I found it a mesmerizing performance.

I really like this rather calm and contemplative version!

Marvellous. Not a piece I normally take to but Simon had it all here. Such a shame he had to stop.

Why did he stop? He seems to hold his RH pinky out, which I did at one time. If I try doing that now it creates a huge amount of tension in my hand.

I was never at all sure, something muscular I think though not sure if related to the above.

I met and heard Simon play in Charlottesville, VA a number of years ago. He was a consummate gentleman and played beautifully. For most of us it was also our introduction to the guitars of Christopher Dean. I'm sorry he isn't playing anymore. He was a wonderful musician.
