[YouTube] Animation of Debussy's Clair de lune, James Edwards solo guitar

Post by StevSmar » Sat Apr 08, 2017 12:10 pm

Youtube

I thoroughly enjoy this arrangement of Clair de lune, and I find Smalin's animation of the music fantastic.
James Edwards playing is wonderful and his arrangement seems the most sensitive one to my ears.
I love how the animated notes slide forward, get bigger and are highlighted just as they are played.

Mesmerising!
Regards,

Steven from Winnipeg

A perfect foil against the wild weather that we've been having in my neck of the woods lately.

Thank you.

That's interesting to watch, James Edwards arrangement looks incredibly difficult!

Thank you very much for sharing that. I've never heard, much less seen, anyone playing my arrangement. That made my day. Roxane Elfasci plays it beautifully. It is difficult technically, but the real challenge is the musical sensitivity required. The guitar can deliver that in a way the piano can't, but it takes some magic. Also, the comments have been very kind, but I do want to acknowledge the poor audio quality; it was recorded in 1992 on an analog machine, and has suffered quite a bit in digital processing over the years. I don't remember it sounding like I was underwater, 25 years ago. :)

Here's another one that says it's using your arrangement. It has lots of thumbs down votes, which I don't get. It's not perfect, but it's not that bad either.
