Oscar Espla: Tiempo di Sonata (1930)

Post by Dejour » Sat May 06, 2017 8:43 am

car Esplá: Tempo di Sonata is the only piece originally written for the guitar by the composer.
The Sonata was composed around the year 1930 but was first performed in 1978 by José Tomás.
The Sonata has not been performed many time since.
I personally think the Sonata should be placed among the standard pieces for the classical guitar.

Good stuff. I'm actually moving to alicante to study at the Oscar Espla conservatory with Ignacio rodes! I'll take a look at this.

Thanks for drawing attention to this; I found it a really nice piece. I agree it would be good to hear it played in concerts :)

The beginning of your video shows a page of the score for a few seconds--is the published version a facsimile of the handwritten score or is it typeset?

That's a great piece and performance, I have not heard of it before so I am really glad that you highlighted its existence and played /recorded it. I'm sure to go back and listen again too.
