You Tube
The website http://www.youtube.com/ allows individuals to publish videos. In your posts, you may give links to classical guitar videos on YouTube, on condition that you only give links to your own compositions or works in the public domain.

On this forum we respect copyrights, therefore if the forum moderators or I see a link to a copyright protected work on YouTube, for example a work by Leo Brouwer, we will delete the link and replace it with the words *** boycotted link - does not respect copyright ***.

When you give a link to a video, post your message in the forum "Our favourite websites". Give your post a title following this example: [YouTube] Niccolò Paganini; Capricho nº 24

I'm sure everyone appreciates that only links to material which respects copyright are allowed. The same rules apply as on the rest of the forum.

A link to a video of a yourself playing Brouwer's 'El Decameron Negro' is not allowed as the music is copyright, and a link to a clip taken from a commercial DVD/video of Segovia playing Bach is not allowed as the recording is copyright.
A link to a video of yourself playing the same Bach piece would be fine.

How do you figure out if a video is OK?

You can begin by checking someplace like Wikipedia to make sure that the composer of the work has been dead for at least 75 years... Then make sure that the performer IS the same person who posted the video (no videos stolen from DVDs, Television, films, or a fellow performer, etc.) If it is from a concert or a masterclass, try to establish if the person who posted the video has permission to do so... If you are still in doubt, you can always send a private message to one of the moderators to ask about a specific video...
