Classical Guitar Knowledge (Theory)

Post by darrenguitar » Mon Jan 30, 2017 9:55 pm

Hi

I'm taking my grade 5 soon for Classical guitar Trinity and i'm stuck with the musical knowledge questions.

the pieces I have chosen are Etude no.11, La nave de Zvonimir and El Caminante

I have to answer the following for each piece, What is the style of each piece, What is the form for each piece?

Any help would be great

The Style:
think about the ERA: Classical , Baroque, Modern Period.
the Form: AABB or ABAB or ABBA (as A and B stands for the musical phrases etc..

maybe this helps you.

could romantic be a period and a style too?

Most of the pieces are written from 1940-1970

EL Caminante - Ernesto Cordero 1946 Period - High Modern
Form - Rondo
Style - Romantic???

La nave de zvonimir - Leonardo Bravo 1967 - Period - High Modern or Contempory Classical
Form - Ternary
Style - ????

Etude no.11 - Jean-Maurice Mourat 1946 -Period - High Modern
Form - Rondo
Style - Romantic???

I think instead of just finding a direct answer, you should learn and study basic musical forms and styles. It is not difficult and it is useful, reason for the questions in the program.
