Andrea Gonzalez Caballero is considered one of the rising stars of Spanish guitarists, a fact which her concert career corroborates. She gave her first concert at the age of 8 and has since been performing regularly worldwide.
She has been invited to teach and play in many international guitar festivals including the International Guitar Festival of Szeged Hungary, the Monterey Guitar Festival in Mexico, and the Isaac Nicola Festival in Cuba. Her international engagements include performances in Holland, Germany, Cuba, Mexico, Hungary, Italy , United Kingdon and Spain. Her solo career includes a concert with the Andrés Eguigure Orchestra in the Coliseo Theater in Eibar at the age of 17, in which she performed the “Fantasía para un geltihombre” by Joaquín Rodrigo. In 2015 she was selected as one of the most prominent musicians in Spain to play her solo debut at “ Spanish National Auditorium” in Madrid. In 2016, she has been selected by “International Guitar Foundation” to perform at Festivals in United Kingdom such “London International Guitar Festival or “Bath Guitar Festival” and important theatres like King`s Cross in London or Sages Gateshead.
Andrea has been participating and getting many prizes in numerous international competitions: “40th International Competition of F. Sor” in Rome (Italy), “International Guitar Prize” in Weimar (Germany), “F. Tárrega Competition”(Vila-Real), the “Andrés Segovia International Guitar Competition” (Linares, Spain) Norba Caesarina International Competition”, “Daniel Fortea International Competition” and “I Young Musicians Competition of Euskadi”. Recently, Andrea won one of the most prestigious worlwide guitar competitons: XIII Alhambra international competition. The prize includes solo concerts and a recording with the label Naxos in Canada.
Andrea has received scholarships from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation in Bonn, DAAD (German Internship Studies Service), AIE (Spanish artists association), Deutsclandstipendium, and Regional Council of Guipuzcoa and Town Hall of Eibar (local Spanish scholarships). In 2013 she won an Erasmus scholarship to study at the “Kärtner Landeskonservatorium Klagenfurt” in Austria with distinguished guitar teacher Marco Tamayo.
Andrea began studying guitar at the age of 7 with Ana Maria Caballero at the Andres Eguiguren music school in Eibar. At the age of 12 she received lessons from teachers Bienvenido Rodriguez and Carmen Becerra. In 2010 she began her studies in the Robert Schumann Music Conservatory where she finished her bachelor and master degree and is currently pursuing an artist performance degree under the tutelage of the world renowned guitarist and teacher, Joaquin Clerch.
