Do you know if he'll be performing anywhere else this year?
Thanks

I had the great and distinct pleasure of chauffering Christopher Parkening, Jubilant Sykes and Mark Rice from their hotel to the Mt. Gretna venue, with a stop on the way at a restaurant that Christopher had picked where he treated us all to lunch. :-)

Would like to hear about this. I once had the opportunity to talk with Parkening backstage after a performance, and I found him very easy to talk with, really "down home," and totally devoid of any superiority or arrogance. In other words, my impression is that you couldn't find a nicer guy.

Christopher is a great guy. Due to a blunder on my part and a torrential downpour he was an hour late for the sound check but said nothing about it and did not seem to be a bit perturbed. He not only did not mind that I brought my son along but gave my son nearly half of his prime rib as it was too much for him to eat. I would have a very difficult time finding someone else who would be that gracious and understanding. Truly a unique person. You are quite correct, he is not arrogant at all and does not show any sign of feelings of superiority. I felt like a name-dropper when I recounted my journey through the music world, as if I was trying to impress him or something. But I was just telling it like it was.

Thanks much for that! From my experience and all accounts, CP appears to be the kind of person you want as a next-door neighbor, even if you're not interested in CG.

I met him in the early 90's during his heyday when he performed in Lexington, Virginia. A friend of mine that knew been attending his summer programs took me back stage after his performance to say 'Hello' and introduce us. He was absolutely down to earth and gracious, though I could barely utter a word. He performed about a year later in Charlottesville, Virginia and his playing partner, David Brandon, gave our Charlottesville Classical Guitar Society a Master Class. David, like Christopher, was down to earth and gracious.
I'm glad to hear that he is again performing and the positive experience others have had interacting with him.
