Stela Miteva-Dinkova was born in 1973 into a family of musicians in Provadiya, Bulgaria. At the age of 10 she began studying guitar with her father, Blagoi Mitev. The following year, she was accepted in the music high school, Dobri Hristov, located in Varna, to study guitar with Lyuben Haralambiev. In 1992 she left to continue her studies at the Academy of Music and Dance Art in Plovdiv. Within four years, she became a classical guitar assistant and now is on the faculty there. Her students have gone on to win prestigious awards at national and international competitions and perform around the world.
A talented performer herself, she has won first prize at international music festivals in Dobrich, Albena and in Plovdiv, where she was awarded for her classical guitar interpretation. At the national level, she twice won first prize at Chirpan’s national Young Musician Competition.
Dinkova regularly performs at international festivals in Spain, Germany, Poland, Serbia, Montenegro and the Czech Republic, among others, and offers many European recitals. She recently compiled and published “Pieces for Guitar from Bulgarian Composers,” a book and CD set which is the first of its kind.
