2016-11-11 Craig Ogden - Nottingham (UK)

Post by JohnB » Sun Nov 06, 2016 10:45 am

Craig Ogden is giving a recital in Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall on 11th November.

He is standing in for Miloš Karadaglić who is can't perform due to an injury and it playing Karadaglić's original programme, which is very bitty.

The blurb for the recital says:
World renowned Australian guitarist, Craig Ogden, performs this concert of classical guitar favourites and timeless songs from the Beatles songbook. This programme was devised by Miloš Karadaglić who, due to injury, is unfortunately unable to perform. However, the original programme will be performed in full and Miloš will be presenting the concert and meeting his fans after the concert.

Apparently so. I've amended the date in the title. Apologies to any time-travellers who were looking forward to a trip back!

Two things:

1) Please tell me, what does "bitty" mean in this context? We use that word over here, but usually in conjunction with "itty", as in "itty-bitty" which means "very small".

2) Craig Ogden is an exceptional guitarist, but I would prefer to hear him play his own choice of programme! I have his CD of works by Lennox and Michael Berkeley, which is one of my all-time favourites, I listen to it frequently.

Bitty? In this instance a sequence of shortish (mostly) popular hits

JS. Bach Prelude from the Lute Suite BWV 997
Tárrega Recuerdos de la Alhambra
De Falla Danza del Molinero (from El sombrero de Tres Picos)
Boccherini Quintet No. 4 in D, G. 448 – “Fandango”
Villa Lobos Prelude No. 1 in E Minor
Jobim The Girl from Ipanema
Savio Batucada
Rodrigo Españoleta from Fantasía para un gentilhombre
Anon Jeux Interdits (Spanish Romance)
Piazzolla Libertango
Beatles Blackbird, Yesterday, Michelle
Beatles Something, And I Love Her, Come Together
Beatles Here Comes the Sun, Fool on the Hill, Eleanor Rigby

This is the programme that Karadaglić (sorry "Milos") chose, of course.
