Cielito Lindo (My Students - Guitar Ensemble)

Post by Giuseppe Torrisi » Mon Jan 20, 2014 7:44 am

My arrangement for solo guitar of a famous traditional mexican song performed in unison by my Students of the Middle School " Nino Martoglio", a musical school in Belpasso (Catania, Italy). Free Tab and Score of this piece on my website: http://www.chitarrarte.it

Thanks for that, Guiseppe. Your students are great!

I didn't download the free score for Cielito Lindo, but I did download two others...
Santa Lucia is a tune I remember singing in the music class at school, about fifty years or so ago. One of my favourites ever since. And Lambada reminds me of a holiday in Portugal with my family about fifteen years ago, when the song was a hit througout Europe. So thanks for those, too!

Nice kids! Well done, Guiseppe.
One thing that I think of, though, is that the instruments are not in tune (and you really notice this when they play so well...)

Do your students use electronic tuners? Check out the *** Commercial link removed *** CTG-10 Clip Tuner, works well, fantastic price :-)

All the best

Thomas

I had seen your videos on YouTube but didn't realize that you were also a member here. Glad to see that you are indeed registered.

So once again, Bravo!

I'm slightly green with envy because everywhere I've lived, whether the USA or Canada, I can never seem to find others nearby that are just as interested in classical guitar as me. People where I live now expect me to crank out Johnny Cash or other country tunes which I refuse to play because I prefer to study the much older music. In their realities it seems classical, renaissance, medieval, romantic music doesn't register as trendy, fun or cool.

So when I see videos of a group of students, actively and happily engaging in playing classical guitar together, it tugs at the heart. Your music school must be a great place.

I'm mexican and never learned this, shame on me! Try to speed up the tempo a bit, other than that it sounds very nice!
In this video you have a good example with one of the most famous singers of the first half of last century.
