I wonder why this piece has been subjected to so many revisions by "outsiders"? The original seems fine to me.

Yeah, and not every "outsider" has done a nice job. If there's something I'll never understand is: what's the point in making a revision of any musical work? (besides earning money) The best thing is to keep it like the composer's done (or compose another work yourself).
