GB £.3600 Stephen Eden Concert cedar 2016, Bexhill

Post by Stephen Eden » Mon Jun 13, 2016 12:12 pm

- Type: Stephen Eden Concert Classcical
- Year of construction: 2016 number 129
- Scale length (mm): 65cm
- Top: Cedar
- Back / Sides: Indian Rosewood
- Fingerboard / (bridge): Ebony / Indian Rosewood
- Sound: Warm and deep sustaining basses with sweet singing trebles. Good on power, response and projection. Great separation, balance and tonal variety.
- Condition: Brand New
- Price:£3600
- Viewing / trial possible- Location (nearest city): Bexhill on Sea. A weeks trial period is available, please enquire for terms and conditions.

Here is an opportunity to buy something quite unique from myself as it is so far a one off. It was originally an order where the buyer requested something a little bit different working around a certain colour scheme. Unfortunately the buyer ran into financial difficulties, so on this rather rare occasion I have a guitar for sale. The bracing is inspired by Daniel Friederich but not a direct copy as is the rosette. The tuners are made in Italy by M&M tuning machines. I have found them to be so excellent I am now using them as my main supplier. It also comes with a Hiscox case.

Thanks for looking.

It looks a bit different from my cedar top, Stephen. But your description of the sound is very similar to mine. I am sure it will be a great guitar for someone.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I am particularly happy with the way the rose came out. I actually made 8 different logs of the same design using different colour green veneers. The idea behind it was to give it a slightly more organic look to it. It took about 3 days work and about 300 individual veneers to arrive at that point. I have a design in mind that I would like to try the same approach on in the future. Only time will tell if ever get a chance to try it though!

Nice work Stephen!
The tuners seem very nice. Is m&m a new company? - not heard of them before. Have been looking for an alternative to Gotoh, which I like the build but not so much the look and sloanes which I like the look but not the build quality. These Italian tuners look nice!
Good luck with the sale.

Best
Richard.

Cheers Richard,

I understand about the looks and build of tuners. I like understated, well engineered tuners. These are exactly that.

I am not sure how old the company is though as Miles put me onto them. He mentioned a few of the top Italian builders are now using them.

Breathtaking finish and obviously of the highest quality..beautiful, it seems a very reasonable price given the work that has gone into it.

Thank you Andrew. It was quite fun doing something different for a change so the time taken was paid for in pleasure.

Hi Nicolás, thank you. I've never really had a guitar for sale so I haven't invested in recording equipment. Perhaps it might be a good time to look into it. I am finding that I now have a bit of time for interesting projects so I may have more for sale in the future.

You are very welcome Stephen, it is nice to see that there are still artisans and craftsmen/women (Just in case) about who strive for quality and beauty. If I ever reach the elevated status of deserving a Luthier made guitar I shall look no further and be beating a path to good old Bexhill on Sea.

Hi Steve, it'd be indeed great if you can carry out that project. I'd love to hear samples of your different guitars in a standardized way. All the best

Hello. Could you please inform me of the type of finish this guitar has on the top, back and sides? Thank you.

Joe

Hi Joe, this is a French polish. So a shellac and alcohol based polish rubbed on in the traditional manner.
