GB £.2295 James Lister spruce 2014, Sheffield

Postby James Lister » Tue Sep 13, 2016 11:34 am

- Type / luthier: Classical/James Lister
- Scale length (mm) 650
- Top: Spruce
- Back / Sides: Flamed maple
- Fingerboard / (bridge): Ebony fingerboard/rosewood bridge
- Sound: Traditional
- Condition: Ex-demo - excellent condition
- Price: £2,295 (previously £2,495)
- Viewing / trial possible: 1 week approval period
- Location (nearest city): Sheffield, UK

This guitar was made in 2014, and has been used as an exhibition/demo guitar since then. I've been playing the guitar myself a bit over the past 4 months, and was considering keeping it as my main guitar, but have decided now to stick with my ziricote guitar, which has a bit more punch, and stronger trebles, although this guitar has a sweeter tone. As it's a few years old, and I've been using it myself, I'm selling it at a significantly discounted price (full retail would be £3,400).

Although not a copy, this guitar is closely based on the later, larger bodied guitars of Torres, rather than my own standard design. As such it has a very thin top (around 1.6mm at the edges) and sides (1.2mm). The guitar has very sweet trebles, and deep, resonant basses.

The guitar is finished in Danish oil, which gives it a matt/satin appearance rather than the full gloss of French polish. Nut width is 51mm, and string spacing at the bridge is 57.5mm.

The guitar has a European spruce top, and back and sides of flamed maple. The fingerboard is ebony, and the neck is cedar. The tuners are Gotoh with ebony buttons.

I haven't made any recordings with this guitar yet, but can easily put together a few small samples for anyone who is interested.

This guitar will be sold with a one week trial/approval period. If you're not happy with the guitar for any reason, you can return it for a full refund less shipping costs. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Looks like a great bargain for someone James, especially with the 1 week trial period!

Based on the clips I've heard of other Lister guitars, they have some seriously sweet and beautiful tone. This is a serious steal at this price. If only I were close by I'd love to try this one in person

Bit surprised no-one has snapped this up - nearly new guitar for not much more than mine go for second-hand.

Oh well, since it's nearly Christmas, I've dropped the price to £2,295

One week trial still available. :D

Lesson learned today, never ever buy a guitar outside of Fall/Winter.

It looks like I have a buyer, but not finalised yet. I'll let you know if it falls through for any reason.

Yes, congrats James and to the buyer of course.
I'm sure he'll love it.
Getting better bit by bit, day by day.
