US $..250 Cordoba 50R cedar 2000, Louisville, KY - SOLD

Post by Keith » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:59 pm

SOLD: 2000 Cordoba Guitar plus relatively new GC generic hard shell case. $250 plus shipping. Guitar currently lives in Louisville KY. This would be a great guitar to take to the beach/outdoors, a guitar to travel to lessons or a guitar for a student. Typical Cordoba built (like a tank) and sound (good bass and trebles). This actually sounds a lot better than the newer Cordobas I have seen at GC. A few modifications made: better tuners (see below), bone saddle and nut, a permanent 7th fret marker (very small diameter) and a slight reduction in the bulk of the neck. A few years ago I took off about 1mm or thereabouts off the neck and re-did with polyurethane and not the poly-goop used by the factory. The neck is more comfortable and one's thumb moves easier up and down the neck. I was able to get the neck and most of the heel stained close to the original color. I would say the work was 95-98% close to what a factory would do. The only aesthetic issue is where the heel joins the body--I was not able to get a good color there. Had I stripped the entire guitar I could have easily resolved that. No structural issues at all there and with the rest of the neck.

Condition: Very good shape. No cracks, plenty of bone saddle left (current action is 4mm/3mm)
Scale: 650mm
Nut: 52mm
Materials:
Top: Cedar
Back and Sides: Indian Rosewood.
Saddle and Nut: Bone
Tuners: Chinese "Rubners". These are nice tuners and a whole lot better than the stock ones.
Fingerboard: Ebony. Frets are level and in excellent shape.
Bridge and Head: Indian Rosewood.
Bracing: standard Cordoba fan
Sound: Good. Has good basses and trebles that seem evenly matched. I suspect carbon trebles would work well.
Viewing: Do-able although shipping costs back to me paid by person trying out guitar.

Good luck selling.

A side question: I'm looking for a cg luthier in Louisville. Any recommendations?

TTT
by the way, the yellow tint on the neck is from the flash

As to the question about a luthier in Louisville--I have not a clue. I moved here last summer from Boston and nylon is pretty slim pickins' down here.

Summer is almost upon us which means, the beach, the park, camping--all places you do not want to take your prized guitar. Perfect spots for this Cordoba. Summer also means high humidity which means your thumb will stick on the poly-goop neck typical of most factory guitars--but not this guitar.

Traveling from South Africa and will be visiting friends in Florence, KY, 26th May and might be interested and will keep an eye on it.
What are the distances between the strings and the 12th frets, please.

Looks like the distances you are asking about are noted in the description.

I replied..you should be able to get my message. Thanks.

Oh, messages stay in the Outbox until the other person reads them. That allows the sender to edit the message if it hasn't been read yet. Confusing, I know.

I will browse around whilst in Kentucky next month
