Tárrega, Francisco - Estudio en Do Mayor

Postby tateharmann » Fri Feb 12, 2016 3:32 am

Here's some more flesh playing on gut strings. This Tárrega study is a great left hand workout with some tricky shifts. I've been using it to practice my tirando (free stroke) - sorry, I didn't play the repeats.

Thanks, but I was referring to the beautiful tone you create with you fingers........::-)
I have been playing quite a bit lately, and I start getting that same tone more consistently. Key I think is to play slower easier pieces to learn to get the angle of attack right, and to get the right feel in you finger tips. I use a lot of Neutrogena Hand Cream to keep the skin on my fingers soft, and it definitively contributes to a fuller rounder tone.

You got it!! That moisturizer is the key hahaha...Aveeno is my friend lol :)

Anyway, it's a beautiful guitar and that's gotta contribute at least some to the tone.

If you say gut strings, do you mean genuine gut, ot Nylgut?

Real gut, strings 6-2 are Aquila Gut and Silk and 1st string is by Gamut strings out of Minnesota. So far I really like the Gamut high E compared to the Aquila...seems more durable but time will tell I guess. I also tried the Hense's on Abbey like you recommended...they were quite good for nail-less playing too!
