Anyone here used a nail builder/strengthener before?

So was wondering if anyone here has any experience using a nail builder/strengthener ? Does it improve the quality of your nails for playing ?
I have been taking biotin and vitamin D daily and regularly rubbing coconut oil into my nails which seems to have helped slightly but my nails still keep breaking :-(

Here is what science currently knows about treating brittle nails (from Common nail disorders, in Clinics in Dermatology 2013 31(5), pp 578-586):

Thanks a lot, I was wondering if using a nail builder could have any negative effect on my tone quality etc?

I would think it might have a positive effect since any thickening of a brittle/thin nail will make for a fatter tone - some flamenco players seem to use thickening agents for exactly that purpose - but I am not using one so hopefully you hear from others on that.

Long used a Body Shop hand/nail cream to good effect, Argan oil creams also good, and found useful the different approach of the All in One treatment which is more like a nail varnish. All need long term and regularly maintained application.

I recently broke a nail closing a roof vent in a coach, the same nail I lost to a ride-on mower two years ago. The nail is well grown back but clearly weakened. Any suggestion of which topical nail product would make it more resilient?

I like this product by Hoof and Mane to help keep the nails moisturized and less brittle. I put it on before bed.

If you're looking for an actual Nail Builder to create an artificial nail then I would call some Nail Salons and see if any one there uses a product called "ManiQ" gel. It's basically a much superior form of a 'Silk Wrap.' It's my emergency back-up plan!

ManiQ gel and silk wrap are two different things; different purposes. The ManiQ gel is basically a soft gel, curred with a U.V. light. Silk wrap is a thin piece of silk, sometimes with adhesive on one side. If used correctly, silk, or fiberglass wrap can be a fingernail saver. Easy to do yourself, and only takes a few seconds.
