It is the first movement of the adaptation of the Partita No.3 in E Major for violin... said to be adapted by Bach himself for the lute
This piece needs an assertive attack... it is amazing music to play... it is a clarion call ... an announcement... the call needs to be demanding and strong... an invitation to what follows.
Of course this is how I feel it should be... the suite tells a story for me but you might feel differently about it... that is of course your prerogative.

As usual it has been sitting on my desktop for a little while
I have mentioned several times that I have had some pieces recorded in my teachers studio by a professional sound technician using professional equipment so I guess you would say that this is semi-professionally recorded.
The sound just blows me away... my guitar is all silver and black velvet... she sounds amazing!
I hope compressing it to mp3 doesn’t interfere too much with the quality and that you enjoy the music

As always

Great recording and interpretation. I am currently working on this piece and I was wondering how long it took you to play it like that.

Actually, I've played the Prelude as a stand alone piece for some time so it's difficult to say
It's been several years since I took it up so I guess it's taken that long

Thanks Owl

I needed a fix of Bach and that did the trick. First time I have visited here in a while - you remain an inspiration :-)

And I forgot my doggie Ike was my avatar - He died last month - now I feel a bit teary!

I'm so sorry, I know what it's like to lose a loved companion... just remember how happy you made each other while he was here, that's the important thing

Don't be a stranger... it's good to stay in touch :discussion:

Dear Owl,

This is truly spectacular!
The clarion call is there straight from the start but certainly also in the euphoric way you end the piece.
Your recording somehow makes me (and 500+ respondents) want to dig into this piece immediately (although it is probably wiser for me to work on other pieces for the next decade)!
Thank you very much for posting this!!!

Thanks for listening ArnieBee and kloeten... I just noticed this piece has been up for almost 5 years now so it's nice to still receive the occasional comment
I'm happy you enjoyed it and I hope you heard the rest of the suite
