Post by joaocarlosvictor » Sat Jan 23, 2016 10:56 pm

Dear friends,

I would like to share with you this video I recorded last year. The piece is Fernando Sor´s Andante Largo op.5 n.5 and I played it on a Carlos Gomes Valentim Guitar hommage a Daniel Friederich:

There is small interview before, I start to play at min 01:45.

Playing Sor is harder than it looks. Excellent sound, and excellent timing. Well done.

Excellent, João Carlos! Thanks for sharing here with us. That guitar sounds incredible, by the way.

I have not heard this played in a long time. I love this piece. Don't hear it played often anymore. I love your interpretation and beautiful tone. Very relaxed and expressive. Thank you.
All this time I thought I was making music; it was making me.

Wonderful! I can’t imagine this being better played—so lyrical and elegant and perfectly paced. And what a liquid, beautiful tone that suits this music so well.

João: amazing sound, amazing touch. I 'rewind' it three times. Perfect.
A big thank you for this moment.
Cheers,

Unfortunately Stradivarius was a terrible painter and Rembrandt made lousy violins.

You are right Tom! Sor´s music is very transparent, so one need to work a lot to have everything under the control and at the same time let the music speak for itself. It is a life working process that never ends...

One of my favorite Sor pieces that doesn't get played much. I really liked this version, perfect tempo :)

Great job on a challenging piece. This little gem requires a lot of stretching in the left hand. I first came across it in Fredrick Noad's Classical Guitar collection when I first starting playing. A bit advanced for a beginner, but I loved the harmonies and the contrast in the key change for the second section.

I think you not only got the technique, you also captured the mood and feeling of the piece.

Many thanks!
