Falla, Manuel de - The Miller's Dance

Post by lucy » Sun Jan 01, 2017 11:41 pm

I'm sure there will be many more de Falla uploads, from now on..... Thanks for the tip David! :)

It just so happens I used to play this piece - and I recorded it at the time.

EDIT: Same file attached, but converted to MP3 with different software.

I got half-way through when it suddenly went back to the beginning. Must be something wrong with my iPad. Sounded good, though, Lucy.

Thanks for listening everyone! Much appreciated. :)

It plays fine on my Samsung tablet. Is it possible that there's a problem playing the file on Apple devices? The only thing I did differently from normal, was open the wav file in my workstation and save it as an MP3 from there. Usually, I convert files using dedicated conversion software. I'd be surprised if it made any difference, but just in case, I've uploaded the file again, converted to MP3 using the conversion software. Could someone let me know if it plays OK now. Thanks.

By the way, in a note to mods, the embedded player on the site has not worked at all on my tablet for a long time. I always have to download files to listen to them. Is there any chance this can be rectified?

I listened using PC. No issues at all.

Regarding the music - well, I've... heard this piece for the first time  frankly... and never played any de Falla. So, thanks for introducing it to me :) Nice! (one feels like the time's kind of running out always when that bloody to-play-list expands quicker than it shrinks)

I know what you mean! I find myself being selective these days.....

I hesitate to say this, but I really recommend Julian Bream's version. It's fantastic! :casque: Can be found on YouTube. (Hope this doesn't detract from anyone's appreciation of my efforts, though! Of course, it's not that my version is inferior, you know, it's just different!)

Thanks for this piece Lucy. Very dramatic. The rasguedos sound challenging. Excellent job with the tonal variations. Thanks for introducing me to this piece. :D

Nice Lucy,

I love Williams interpretation; his right hand is so strong and it seems that his guitar have 20 strings :)
Your recording sound great (with no problem). Very brave from you to choose a piece like this. Your rasguados and pizzicato are sound very acceptable to me.
Best wishes, Bertran II

Nice and clean too, not easy with a piece like this... it was a pleasure to listen, thank you :casque:
