vicente asencio>narciso yepes>keith nelson>randallj

some will take this with skepticism, but there are things that can't be communicated elsewise. ("the bells", anyone?)

Other than random masterclasses, the last guitar lesson I took was Spring 1977, the year of my senior recital and graduation from WWU. My lineage is brief: my two guitar teachers at WWU were Frank Bilven and Thomas Patterson. Both Frank and Tom were students of Michael Lorimer who, in turn, was a student of Segovia. Tom is running a great guitar program at UA Tucson and Frank is still active in the Pacific NW.
I play a Cordoba Mini so I look taller on stage!

My teacher--John Hariss--is a student of Lorimer too. I'll try to remember to ask if he knows your teachers!

My parents were both musicians which made an impression on me.

Then the Beatles and so on.

I self taught myself guitar.

I studied classical guitar with Steve Suvada at Harper College in Palatine Illinois.

Then with Richard Pick through DePaul University at the Fine Arts building on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
