The Complete Recordings of Torroba

Post by Altophile » Sun Jan 07, 2018 2:35 pm

Does anyone know whether anyone has recorded all of Torroba's music for guitar?

Think David Russell did one.

Yeah, I have that one, which is excellent. I think David recorded a mere fraction of Torroba's work, though.

I am not aware of a full collection of Torroba's guitar music.

Thanks, David. I was afraid that that would be the case. So, I guess I have to find an index of the complete guitar works of Torroba, and then search for CDs with the individual pieces until I have them all.

You might start with Michael Boyd’s recording as he recorded several unpublished works of Torroba.

I don't know either any complete recording.
Pepe Romero has recently recorded several concertos for Naxos. But not all of them yet (there are 9 guitar concertos by Torroba).
There is an old double-CD by Opera Tres with some rarely recorded/performed pieces, such as Piezas de Albun, 3 preludios, Sonatina y Variacion, Puertas de Madrid.
