My new custom build

Post by Amy Gaudia » Thu Jan 17, 2019 11:14 pm

Introducing my new love...

It is a custom build by Marcus Dominelli. This is definitely my dream guitar in every possible way. The sound is amazing with a fantastic warm clear bass, full midrange, and sweet clear trebles. I searched high and low for a smaller body (smaller than the usual small) short scale (626 mm) and finally I am happy to say that I found Marcus. It just arrived yesterday so I will write more about it after I play awhile. I'm a little bit in shock about how beautiful the sound is because it is a really small guitar and I was a little concerned that I might be making a mistake. Not so. It is full and projects very well - straight out of the shipping box. Here is a photo. There is a conversation going on this forum about the type of plantilla that people are attracted to, and I must say that the plantilla of this guitar is EXACTLY what is most pleasing to my eyes.

Aren't you afraid it might tip over?

No. There is another holder on the back side that you can't see in the photo, and it always has another guitar in it. But you raise a good point! I only put it in there to take the photo so now I will take a closer look at the situation...

Oh geeze I'm sorry...another one of my jokes went bad...on my computer, your picture is turned sideways. the guitar holder looks like it's on the wall. Not so on yours?

And yes it is a beautiful looking guitar. I recently tried a 635 scale guitar built by a local luthier, John Mello. The neck was also 2mm thinner than normal--I can't quite remember if it was 50 or 48 cm. I was really surprised at how much easier stretches between frets were. I assumed that the difference would be very subtle; it was more than that. Alas, it's well beyond my budget!

Well I did finally get the joke ... I'm a little slow sometimes! Yes, my photo was normal, but on here it got rotated and I don't know why. Maybe a moderator can fix it?

I'll just add that the guitar I tried sounded great too, with good projection. It seems like you got the best of worlds--a full sounding guitar with a shorter scale and smaller body. congrats!

I don't think she understands the gravity of that precarious position.

Now fixed. I don't know why it displayed sideways as it was within the forum's size limits. Nevertheless creating a smaller version of the same image file fixed the problem :?
