Giuliani Serenade Op. 19

Post by musicbyandy » Fri Feb 08, 2019 11:56 pm

Has anyone ever tried playing Giuliani's Serenade Op. 19 for violin, guitar & cello using the alternate viola (included on IMSLP) part in place of cello?

I found this video on youtube.com of a group using viola in place of cello. Does anyone have any thoughts on using the viola rather than the original cello part?

It sounds very nice to me. So, why not. Performing musicians tend to be a practical bunch. Often it's a case of who is available to play the part, such as the cello line, rather than who is available to play the cello.
